Rushes

2009 | 2008

This is an archive of the short bits you see on the sidebar.

4 June 2009: Make that two cases of AH1N1 from De La Salle University. The second case is, according to reports, a friend and roommate of the first student diagnosed with the condition yesterday; and is also a foreign exchange student from Japan. More details can be found here.

3 June 2009: Classes in DLSU are suspended from now until 14 June. The administration confirms that a foreign student who arrived in the country on 12 May has contracted the AH1N1 virus. They are currently coordinating with the DOH. The student is being closely monitored at a hospital. More details are found here and here.

9 March 2009: Someone found me by searching for Kelly, so here goes: she’s out of Max FM. And, apparently, so is Tetta. I haven’t listened to the station in months, and I shouldn’t care (considering the past), but the question goes like this: didn’t they hold significant positions in the station?

5 March 2009: The 36 remaining unit minimum that the COMELEC hopes imposed on Student Council candidates isn’t going to happen. Originally, the body pushed for that requirement for a student to run, but it was since struck down after getting the approval of the OSL and the Dean of Student Affairs. One of the rumored reasons: both parties claimed that a more qualified leader comes with more experience in DLSU, and thus, less units remaining. COMELEC is apparently unhappy about their inconsistencies with the rules.

4 March 2009: I think we’re allowed to say that Santugon has, more or less, a complete slate. We’re not allowed, however, to say who that is. Well, I don’t know either; they’re not telling me anything yet. Friday’s the day the candidacies are filed, so that’s a day to watch, definitely.

3 March 2009: Indeed, the rumor is about Aimee Chua still being considered by Santugon for the candidacy. That would be the weirdest thing, considering she’s currently in a scholarship program in Singapore. If this is the case, there are many hurdles. Will Aimee say yes? Will Aimee be willing to fly back to Manila to campaign? Will this be actually allowed by the COMELEC? The party’s slate isn’t exactly final yet, and from what I’ve heard, partly everything lies on this move.

21 February 2009: Tapat’s line-up is final, while Santugon’s could be done, too. The orangebacks have held their third convention, which finally filled up all of the open slots this year. I haven’t heard much from the yellowbacks, but some candidates have been finalized as early as last month. If you’ve followed the coverage for the past three years, you’ll see some familiar characters…

20 February 2009: It’s funny that someone would find my blog while searching for a radio station flipping in Los Angeles. Happens that the station’s on 97.1 FM in the city; the talk station which (will soon be) used to air The Man Show’s Adam Carolla, among others, will flip to a Top 40 station. If you find my blog, the article is here.

8 February 2009: We figured we’d give you the essential dates for this year’s General Elections. Candidates should file their candidacies on the first week of March, with actual campaigning set for 16-23 March, and actual voting set from 24-26 March. Stuff are still being discussed online, so there’s a lot of talk to work with until then.

29 January 2009: Will it be a faceoff between Leah Villalon and Sarah Santos? We thought we’d not cover the DLSU General Elections anymore, but with the USG plebiscite shriveling up and the many names already making the rounds on the forums, it might become more interesting than the last one. A very (and surprisingly) active guessing game, this early, is already online – and only because the earlier-thought faceoff between Ron Semira and Aimee Chua seems to be just a thought.
