About
What is Shale? Shale is obviously a blog – to be specific, an offshoot of a high school journalism hobby – that covers everything from national issues, to campus activities, to anything else that might fit. From radio stations and album reviews to grooming struggles and impression management, Shale can have it covered, depending on the circumstances.
Who does Shale? Niko Batallones also blogs (more frequently) on The Upper Blog, to a lesser extent on Which Baby. He also uploads audiovisual content on Fifth Year Holler. A Communication Arts graduate at the De La Salle University in Manila, he currently works as a writer for an entertainment website, but nevertheless still relies on free online services.
He’s the only one who does Shale? At this point he does all of the writing, but Shale also has an informal network of article contributors and people who pitch in information bits and photographs, or “contentacts” as he calls it. As of late, they are the following: Zay Abjelina, Anna Abola, Kristina Balingit, Danica Cohu, Carlo Cruz, Mimi Esteban, Jan Manaog, John Pangan, Karla Peralta, Carmel Puertollano, Burton Raya, Jayvee Sacramento, and Kaymee Santos.
What else should I know? Photos and graphics in all entries in this blog are hosted by Imageshack, and will be credited if otherwise. All sources for photos will also be credited. The header image was taken by Kizia Beredo on 20 June 2006. Click here to view all Shale entries from March to November 2006.
Can I talk to you or anything? Send us your feedback, as well as your contributions, to upperblog@yahoo.com. We cannot guarantee that we’ll post every article that we receive, though. If it’s interesting, we’ll publish it here, and give you full credit – but no other form of compensation. We’re all poor people here. You can also use the form below – it’s quicker, and it gets to us the same way.
